Este estudo investiga a caracterização de Sherlock Holmes, em O Xangô de Baker Street, de Jô Soares, como identidade pós-moderna, com vistas a contribuir para a valorização da literatura policial e para o conhecimento sobre identidade cultural. Para tais fins, examina-se, em primeiro lugar, a identidade da personagem em sua obra de estreia, Um estudo em vermelho, de Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, buscando estabelecer relações com o contexto histórico, social e cultural. Na sequência, investigam-se os mesmos aspectos em relação ao romance de Jô Soares e abordam-se conceitos necessários para a compreensão da transformação de identidade sofrida por Holmes. Por fim, realiza-se a análise que integra a postura da personagem em O Xangô de Baker Street à noção de identidade cultural na pós-modernidade. Dentre os autores utilizados, fazem parte do aporte teórico Giddens (1991), Mauro (1991), Bresciani (1992), Cuche (1999), Woodward (2000), Burke (2003), Del Priore, (2011, 2016), Hall (2015). Os resultados obtidos permitem considerar que as trocas culturais vivenciadas por Sherlock Holmes foram capazes de ressignificar sua identidade, tornando-o um sujeito pós-moderno. Abstract
The present study investigates the characterization of Sherlock Holmes, in O Xangô de Baker Street, written by Jô Soares, as a post-modern identity, aiming to contribute to the appreciation of police literature and knowledge about cultural identity. For these purposes, firstly, the character's identity in his debut book, A study in scarlet, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, is examined, seeking to establish relations with the historical, social and cultural context. Moreover, the same aspects are investigated in relation to the novel by Jô Soares and concepts required to understand the transformation of identity suffered by Holmes are approached. Finally, an analysis which integrates the character's position in O Xangô de Baker Street to the notion of cultural identity in post-modernity is carried out. Among the authors whose works were used to compose the theoretical basis, there are Giddens (1991), Mauro (1991), Bresciani (1992), Cuche (1999), Woodward (2000), Burke (2003), Del Priore, (2011, 2016), Hall (2015). From the results obtained, it is possible to consider that the cultural exchanges experienced by Sherlock Holmes were able to reframe his identity, making a postmodern subject out of him.
