Vinte e duas obras de literatura britânica clássica estão citadas em Matilda, de Roald Dahl, entre essas está Oliver Twist, de Charles Dickens, que foi lida pela personagem Matilda, cujo autor foi o único que teve mais de uma obra citada. Nesse sentido, esta dissertação tem como foco a seguinte questão de pesquisa: Quais são as semelhanças e diferenças na representação da criança leitora em Matilda, de Roald Dahl e Oliver Twist, de Charles Dickens? A metodologia aqui utilizada é análise das
obras Oliver Twist e Matilda, relacionando aspectos da primeira com a segunda, tendo como base a literatura comparada. A dinâmica da sociedade em torno da questão de literatura e os papéis da criança leitora são enfocados a partir disto. Percebemos semelhanças entre a representação leitora das duas personagens estudadas aqui, sendo uma delas o não incentivo à leitura na fase inicial da infância. Além disso, conseguimos comparar quais aspectos das obras estudadas estão ligados aos períodos em que as obras foram escritas. O conhecimento atingido a partir da bibliografia analisada, pode ser utilizado em outros estudos das áreas da criança leitora e da literatura comparada.
Abstract
Twenty-two British Literature classics appear in Matil author was the only one who had more than one book in Matilda. Therefore, this paper has as aim the following research question: Which are the similarities and differences in the child reader formation in Matilda, by Roald Dahl, and Oliver Twist, by Charles Dickens? The methodology used here is the analyses from the books Oliver Twist e Matilda, linking the first one aspects with the second one, having comparative literature as basis. The society dynamics around the literature issue and the roles of the child reader are focused having this in mind. We have noticed similarities between the reader development in both of the characters studied here. Moreover, we could compare which aspects of the books studied are connected to the historic periods that they were written. The knowledge that was achieved with this may be used in other studies in the child reader and comparative literature fields
