O presente trabalho tem o objetivo de pesquisar as teorias raciais e a mestiçagem no
romance Tenda dos Milagres, do escritor Jorge Amado. O ponto de partida é a
apresentação da vida e obra do autor, com enfoque final no livro abordado. Na sequência,
pesquisamos as teorias raciais no Brasil que consideravam a raça negra como inferior
através das abordagens social darwinistas, históricas e evolutivas. Verificamos como as
teorias raciais estrangeiras são adaptadas no nosso país. Com as teorias apresentadas,
verificamos como elas aparecem no romance e como são polarizadas nos personagens
de Nilo Argolo e Pedro Archanjo. A mestiçagem é investigada através da perspectiva
raciológica e como solução para o Brasil. Verificamos também como a mestiçagem marca
o lugar antropológico do Pelourinho ficcional.
Resumo
This study aims to investigate racial theories and miscegenation in the fictional book
Tenda dos Milagres, from Jorge Amado. The starting point is the apresentation of life and
work of the writer paying attention to the book we chose. After, we research the racial
theories in Brazil that considered black people under white people through social
darwinism, historical and evolutive perspectives. We verify how the foreign racial theories
were adapted to our country. With the theories presented, we verify how they show in the
novel and how they are polarized in the characters of Nilo Argolo and Pedro Archanjo. The
miscegenation is investigates through the raciologic perspective and as solution for Brazil.
We also verify how miscegentation leaves a impression the anthropological place of
ficcional Pelourinho.
