Processos de institucionalização do Grupo Escolar da Vila de Guaporé/RS (1926-1940)

Abstract

This research is part of the History and Philosophy of Education Research Line, which belongs to the Postgraduate Program in Education. School groups were institutionalized in Brazil during the republican period as a model of education that provided an integral education - physical, intellectual and moral - based on the assumption of homogeneity and public. In Rio Grande do Sul, the institutionalization process took place in a similar way to the rest of Brazil, and this research aims to highlight the institutionalization of the Grupo Escolar da Vila de Guaporé, in the Serra Gaúcha. This group was founded in 1925 and only opened the following year, due to various factors, during its establishment as a school, the GEVG was associated with nationalist and Rio Grande do Sul values, with a hygienist, civic and moral bias. In this way, the aim is to understand the historical processes of institutionalization that took place throughout its history as a school group, anchored in documentary sources. It should also be noted that the GEVG was the first public primary school in Guaporé between 1926 and 1940. The qualitative research is methodically based on Cultural History, using the methodology of documentary research, using as a source the four Minute Books kept by the institution during the period in question, which include: enrolment records, inventories of materials and movable property, lists of celebrations and festive dates, and the organizational forms of pupils and teachers. The Minutes Books from I to IV are reorganized to compose the categorization of the creation and institutionalization of the School Group; the school spaces and times that were developed throughout the period; and the materials used and supplied to the Group, demonstrating its relationship with the state. Regarding the period analyzed (1926-1940), it was possible to identify the nationalist and positivist influence present and permeating the institutionalization and schooling processes, especially in daily practices, celebrations and exams. As well as recounting the history of the institution, the research also presents the memory of this School Group, with its internal and external processes. [resumo fornecido pelo autor]
