Esta dissertação investiga um acervo privado denominado Baú de Memórias, com o potencial transformador para o Ensino de História, datado da década de 1990, e o seu impacto na devoção religiosa e na memória coletiva de Vacaria, articulando-os ao ensino de História. O objetivo central consiste em compreender como uma experiência individual de sofrimento é ressignificada pela comunidade e transformada em práticas coletivas de solidariedade e religiosidade. A fundamentação teórica e metodológica ancora-se na História do Tempo Presente, utilizando a análise documental de fontes privadas - como cartas, bilhetes e registros financeiros - para o corpo da dissertação, enquanto os relatos orais são destinados exclusivamente à composição do produto educacional audiovisual. Metodologicamente, o trabalho utiliza a análise documental de fontes privadas (cartas, bilhetes e registros financeiros) para o texto dissertativo. Os resultados revelam que o evento traumático mobilizou amplas redes de apoio espiritual e financeiro, consolidando a devoção a figuras religiosas e fortalecendo laços sociais que rememoram a dor em testemunho coletivo de fé. A pesquisa evidencia que a incorporação dessas fontes privadas ao ambiente escolar favorece práticas pedagógicas críticas e interdisciplinares, permitindo ao discente conectar vivências individuais a processos históricos amplos. O estudo examina, portanto, como a aproximação entre memórias cotidianas e a escrita da história possibilita problematizar o papel da religiosidade frente a adversidades e fundamentar o uso de histórias sensíveis no ensino básico. Como desdobramento prático, a investigação resulta em um produto educacional audiovisual, destinado a professores e estudantes, visando o despertar da consciência histórica por meio de acervos privados, somando-se assim às pesquisas do Programa de Pós-Graduação em História da Universidade de Caxias do Sul (UCS). Abstract
This dissertation investigates a private collection called the "Memory Chest," with transformative potential for History teaching, dating from the 1990s, and its impact on religious devotion and the collective memory of Vacaria, articulating them with History education. The central objective is to understand how an individual experience of suffering is reinterpreted by the community and transformed into collective practices of solidarity and religiosity. The theoretical and methodological foundation is anchored in Contemporary History, using documentary analysis of private sources - such as letters, notes, and financial records - for the body of the dissertation, while oral accounts are exclusively used for the composition of the audiovisual educational product. Methodologically, the work uses documentary analysis of private sources (letters, notes, and financial records) for the dissertation text. It is emphasized that the oral accounts found serve exclusively for the composition of the audiovisual educational product and are not the object of direct analysis in this dissertation. The results revealed that the traumatic event mobilized broad networks of spiritual and financial support, consolidating devotion to religious figures and strengthening social bonds that commemorated the pain in a collective testimony of faith. The research shows that incorporating these private sources into the school environment favors critical and interdisciplinary pedagogical practices, allowing students to connect individual experiences to broader historical processes. The study therefore examines how the approximation between everyday memories and the writing of history makes it possible to problematize the role of religiosity in the face of adversity and to justify the use of sensitive stories in basic education. As a practical outcome, the investigation results in an audiovisual educational product, intended for teachers and students, aiming to awaken historical consciousness through private collections, thus adding to the research of the Postgraduate Program in History at the University of Caxias do Sul (UCS).
