Histórias e memórias do Colégio Agrícola Professor Gustavo Augusto Lima (Lavras da Mangabeira, CE - 2011)

Abstract

This study investigated the history of a professional education institution in the state of Ceará. Its general objective was to analyze memories and documents about the Colégio Agrícola Professor Gustavo Augusto Lima (CAPGAL), located in the municipality of Lavras da Mangabeira, emphasizing aspects of its trajectory until the moment of its reorganization, when it became identified as the Escola Estadual de Educação Profissional Professor Gustavo Augusto Lima (EEEPPGAL), in 2011. As specific objectives, the study sought to: a) establish relations between the local context of Lavras da Mangabeira/CE and the installation of the College, identifying relations between its closure and its reorganization; b) compose aspects of its institutional trajectory, since its creation in the 1940s until the moment of its reorganization into a school, in order to compare them with the memories of its graduates about the presence of the institution in that locality. In 2004, the Agricultural College Professor Gustavo Augusto Lima was transferred by the government of Ceará, through the Education Secretary of the State of Ceará (SEDUC), to the municipality of Lavras da Mangabeira, at the request of the then mayor Francisco Aristides Ferreira, who planned to make it a pole for the State University of Ceará. In 2010, during the administration of governor Cid Ferreira Gomes, the college was taken over by the state, which reformed it to make it part of its government plan to implement state professional schools, based on the professional education expansion policy promoted by the federal government of the then president of the republic Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The dissertation's research work was based on the Oral History methodology, carried out through interviews with participants in the history of the school, such as former students, former directors and former pedagogical coordinators, having the memory as a primordial document for us to understand the events that guided the history of the institution due to the lack of documents about it, motivated by an invasion that occurred in its headquarters in 2006. The dissertation was structured in five chapters, as follows: The first chapter presents the initial considerations of the research and the location of the analyzed institution, outlining the questions about the constitution of the College and its reorganization as a school in 2011; the second chapter discusses the theoretical framework and the sources of methodology: Oral History, memories and documentary sources, in addition to the questionings about the studied object, theories, concepts and methodologies that guided this work; the third chapter seeks to contextualize the history of schooling in Lavras da Mangabeira in its historical aspects and how professional education became part of this municipality, from the construction and implementation of CAPGAL; In the fourth chapter, the process of organization and structure of the EEEPPGAL was analyzed, having in the school documents its pedagogical sense; finally, the final considerations present the school, with a new organization and identity, but still linked to some traces of the original school; it also presents an original pedagogical proposal of professional education, being until today a school institution of reference in the region and that identifies the graduates with the local community.
