O governo civil militar e o cinema brasileiro: a censura cinematográfica e o triunfo das pornochanchadas

Abstract

The subject of this research comprises the relationship between the Pornochanchadas cinematic movement and the 1964 Military Dictatorship. The Pornochanchadas followed a worldwide trend of success and peaked during the Military Regime, production and audience, at a time when the cinematic censorship in the Brazil has banned many films on the grounds of protecting the good morals of the Brazilian family. Thus, the question that guides the research is "In what way did the Pornochanchadas cinematic movement succeed even if inserted in the context of a conservative and authoritarian dictatorship?". Thus, it is necessary to understand how the censors' opinions of the films were made and the main aspects found in the artistic materials so that they were censored. Even though the movement being known for bringing sex scenes, the historical context and government at the time of the release of the films influenced both the censors' opinions and the loosening of censorship, when these films had greater artistic freedom and therefore could dare more, making the audience go increasingly to the theaters (sic).
